What is colour analysis?

Each of us has our own unique, beautiful colouring. Colour theory shows us that colours have an effect on other colours when placed next to them. This is true of our own colouring - some colours work in harmony, looking natural on us and bringing out healthy qualities in our skin, eyes and hair; and others work can against it, making us look a little dull, washed-out, tired, blotchy, or simply overpowering us. The goal of colour analysis is to find those colours that are most flattering on us and to give us a palette we can use seamlessly to create outfits.

 

What makes Colours with Confidence different?

Because everyone is unique, I offer different options of colour analysis to cater to different needs. Some people want to know all the colours they can wear to suit their mood and personality, with a highly personalised approach. Others simply want to have a harmonious and co-ordinated palette that works best for their colouring, making it easier to shop and mix & match pieces in a wardrobe. How do you find the right colours?

I use a combination of natural daylight and full spectrum lighting to most accurately evaluate your colouring, and use different colour drapes to see how cool/warm, bright/soft, and light/dark you can go. I then go through a process of comparing colours from 170+ available different shades, tints and tones to see what they do to your skintone, eyes and hair. Throughout the process I explain as we go along and you will be able to see the effects for yourself in the mirror.

 

For the seasonal colour method I compare and contrast colours from the different categories to see where your best colour harmony lies, giving you a palette of colours & neutrals that work seamlessly together and beautifully with your colouring. We also highlight which ones are especially great on you.

For the custom approach, I assess your colour properties like undertone and then we go through all the drapes to find the unique range of colours and neutrals that work best with your eye, skin and hair colour.
