I've had a colour analysis - now what?

If you've just had a personal colour analysis, the question you're probably asking is: "What do I do now?"

It might be a little overwhelming knowing where to start, so I've put together some top tips to get you going:

1. Sort your wardrobe into matches, near matches, and misses. Sometimes "near matches" or even "misses" may not be our best colour, but are worth keeping because the style is great on us, or we just love it for some particular reason. Hold onto these and, as time goes on, you can make a judgement about whether or not to keep them. With other ones it will be obvious that it's time to let go.

2. Find your colours in the shops and try them on. Even if you can't find the right style, just see what the colour is like on you - particularly if it is one you're unsure of or would never normally try.

3. Try a scarf in one of your best colours. This is a great and usually inexpensive way of adding a dose of colour to your outfit.

4. Look at visual examples. You can get a lot of inspiration searching for colour wheel colour schemes, as well as outfit examples of your colours - for example, emerald green outfit.

5. Don't invest in colours you're unsure about. If a colour on your palette feels "off" to you, don't invest in something in that colour. Give it time, try it in a smaller dose or something inexpensive to try it out. If it still doesn't feel right, consider that it may be better in a different fabric (compare the same colour in cotton to satin!), or a different style (some colours may suit activewear for you versus smarter styles, for example). Or maybe it's just not right for you at this time, and that's fine too!

6. Remember that this process takes time! As much as we'd all love to have the perfect wardrobe right away, the truth is that personal style takes a while to develop. Get to know your colour dimensions and how you best wear your colours, and don't feel you need to be a slave to your palette. After all, it is only the starting point. It's up to you to take this tool and use it to create a style that shows you off the best!
